Jun 26, 2007Maestro Maazel spends the week of June 25 at La Scala in Milan, Italy, preparing the orchestra and cast for a new production of La Traviata, which will have its premiere on July 3. Mo. Maazel most recently conducted the opera for the reopening of Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Italy, where the opera was first performed in 1853.
The week closes with an outdoor concert of Verdi's Requiem with the Symphonica Toscanini, to be held in Busseto at the Piazza G. Verdi. Busseto is a small town in the province of Parma in northern Italy where the composer lived.
