Maazel Steps in for Thielemann to Conduct the Munich Philharmonic This WeekMay 9, 2010
Maestro Maazel will conduct the Munich Philharmonic this week, stepping in at the last minute for Maestro Thielemann, who unfortunately had to cancel due to health reasons. Maestro Maazel has just finished conducting the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía's production of Turandot in Guangzhou, China.
The orchestra will perform Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 under Maestro Maazel's baton, first in Munich on May 11, followed by concerts in Paris at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées on May 13, and in Cologne at the Philharmonie on May 15. Maestro Maazel most recently conducted the Munich Philharmonic in October of 2006.
