Statement regarding Castleton Festival and the Palau de les Arts
Jul 2, 2008On July 4, 2009, Maestro Lorin Maazel will launch an annual three-week festival in Castleton, Virginia, devoted to chamber opera, concerts and recitals, master classes for conductors, with top artists mentoring emerging professional instrumentalists, singers, stage directors and designers. In order to devote more time to the project, Mr. Maazel announces today that he regrets not being able to extend past the 2008/09 season his contract as Music Director of the Palau de les Arts Opera House in Valencia, Spain.
Full details of the inaugural Castleton Festival will be announced by the Châteauville Foundation later this year.
